About Me

Hi, my name is Dave Wright and I have been fishing since about the age of five. Having an older brother and dad who were both into fishing in the 80's and 90's I used to tag along and do a bit of noddy fishing with them. I started carp fishing in my mid teens and really got the bug in my early twenties, now I can't keep away from the banks.

I have been very lucky to have learnt a lot from some great names in the carp fishing world and a lot of my success is down to what I have been shown by the legend that is Max Cottis. Over the past few years this has made a big difference to my catch rate. My current PB was a lovely Mirror that graced my mat this year at 52lb 02oz.

In May 2012 whilst carp fishing a large lake in France, we had the worst rain they have had in that area for 40 years and this made the fishing the most challenging I have ever fished in. One of the biggest problems I had was the PVA stick on my hook link was melting before I could get it to the spot where I was fishing. To top it off the ducks on the lake were eating the bait in the hoppers and cleaning me out as the baitboat sailed across the lake, so this got me thinking of a way to stop both of these things from happening again.

Hopper Toppers are designed to do two things. The first is to keep your bait dry in the rain and when using PVA sticks etc to stop them from melting before you are ready to drop them on your spot. Secondly, if you have ducks and swans that like to feed on your bait as you send it across the lake they will also stop this.

These fit into the microcat on the inner lip and do not impact on the amount of bait you can put in unlike the live bait covers that are also on the market. You do need to make sure the inner lip is clear of bait as you fit the hopper covers, this is to get a good tight fit and prevent the covers coming out. They can be used as a pair (provided) or individually to suit your needs and have a recessed line-friendly handle (to prevent line snagging) which helps you remove them easily.

Hopper Toppers are made of the same plastic as the baitboat itself so the colour is the same and adds to the great look of the microcat fitting Mk1, MK2 and MK3 microcat baitboats.

They have been tested extensively by a number of top carp anglers and I have made a number of improvements to what is now the finished item.

Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have, I am always willing to help.
