Bait boat Hopper covers

Bait boats have become more of an essential bit of kit when trying to hook BIG carp in the UK and Europe, in fact they are used by so many anglers now that ducks and swans will wait for you to use your bait boat and eat your bait from the hoppers.

Your average bait boat holds around 2-3kg of bait costing you a lot of money, so by using a set of Hopper Toppers will save you money time and bait.

When fishing in the rain this often melts your PVA sticks and bags before you get your bait boat across the lake to the spot you want to fish, therefore you have no way of knowing if your rig is laying on the bottom right or that you bait is where you want it.

Hopper Toppers keep your bait dry and inaccessible to ducks and swans. They fit into the Microcat on the inner lip and don’t impact on the amount of bait you can put in, unlike the live bait covers that are also on the market. You do need to make sure the inner lip is clear of bait as you fit the hopper covers to prevent them moveing.
They can be used as a pair (provided) or individually to suit your needs they have a recessed line-friendly handle (to prevent line snagging) which helps you remove them easily.

They are made of the same plastic as the bait boat itself so the colour is the same and add to the great look of the Microcat and fit the Mk1, MK2 and MK3 Microcat baitboat.

The bait boat Hopper Toppers have been well tested by a number of top carp anglers and I have made a number of improvements to what is now the finished item.

They really do reduce the stress when its pouring with rain and when the ducks just won’t leave you alone.

So get a set and get Toppered!

Bait boat Hopper Drapes

I'm sure everyone who owns a Microcat bait boat has had this problem before - you fill your hoppers with small pellets, Hemp and or maggots and as you lift the boat up to send it on its merry way, you find that half your bait has started to fall out between the gaps of the boat and the hopper doors.

Well this is where the Hopper drapes come into play. They are a removable, flexible, washable drape that you place over the boats handle and drape into each hopper to cover the gaps.

You feed your line/hook link up through the hoppers then close the doors as normal, lay the drape into the hoppers and fill up with bait as required. As you place the bait in this it then sits on the drape that is covering the gaps and stops the bait from falling out. You then place your hook link on top as normal.

If you are using a set of Hopper Toppers to cover your bait then you need to make sure at this point that the drapes are not trapped on the inner lip where the Hopper Toppers sit as this will stop the drapes from letting your bait drop when you release the hopper doors.

As you open the hopper doors the weight of the bait will then push down and the drapes will fall open letting your bait and hook link drop on your chosen fishing spot. It is a good idea to cover your hook point with devolving foam or pull it into a PVA stick so it cannot catch on the drapes and snag.

The drapes will then hang down and not fall out as you bring your boat back due to the slit in the middle being over the handle and keeping it in place.

The drapes may let a tiny bit of bait fall out at the very front and rear of the hopper doors where the line is feed through, but if it does it will only be a very tiny amount.

So I'm sure you will find that Wright Tackle's Hopper Drapes will really help make things that little bit easier and stop you losing lots of important and expensive bait.

Thanks and tight lines.
